Eighth Annual Impact A Hero Weekend shows support to the caregivers
The Eighth Annual Impact A Hero Weekend honored 50 wounded veterans and their caregivers on June 2-4, and also set a new record of over $910,000 in donations, sponsorships and participation. Impact A Hero provides immediate and ongoing emotional and financial support for our severely-wounded post-9/11 combat veterans and their families. Many times mothers, fathers, husbands and wives become caregivers to our wounded heroes and are forced to leave their jobs. Emergency financial aid is needed to pay bills including mortgage, rent, utilities, food and home and vehicle disability retrofits. Impact Player Partners is there to provide unbiased financial aid to our wounded heroes and their families.
Through multiple events around the country, Impact Player Partners raises funds that are used for unencumbered grants to those who have made tremendous sacrifices for our country. These grants help in covering lost wages of parents and spouses who are required to stop working to provide care for our heroes.
Caregivers Appreciation Program (CAP) is a two day program that takes place during Impact A Hero Weekend. It consists of several hands-on workshops designed to encourage families of severely wounded veterans through art projects, guest speakers and networking. These special caregivers give of themselves, but too often forget to give back to themselves to stay physically and mentally healthy. The weekend culminated with a luxury spa excursion in Sugar Land, where the caregivers were pampered with manicures, pedicures and massages. These wives, moms, dads and other family members are everyday unsung and unknown heroes – selfless caregivers who watch over our nation’s wounded, ill, and injured troops.
