We must hold the line

Former U.S. Marine Brandon J. Raub has joined the Democratic hit list simply for speaking out on his recently created and private Facebook page. What sets this 26-year-old ex-military incident apart is the dangerously aggressive unconstitutional action taken against Raub.
With one swoop, a former Marine—a man who has served both in Iraq and Afghanistan for six years—was involuntarily ushered into a psychiatric ward without proper evaluation, just cause and lack of any basis to hold him. Making matters worse, the second judge ruled that Raub be further detained for another month until the public outcry was heard loud and clear. Not only was Raub arrested and detained against his will without first being served with a warrant and read his Miranda Rights, but Raub’s lawyer was denied cross-examination of medical personnel who had assessed Raub and Special Justice Stokes was unable to be reached as to the clerical errors on Raub’s paperwork. John Whitehead, Raub’s attorney, claimed that there was nothing alarming in Raub’s Facebook posts.
So, in essence, an arrest—which was claimed to not really have been an arrest in Raub’s case—allows the Federal Government to detain ex-military for an undetermined amount of time simply based on mere suspicion while completely circumventing due process. All because one chose to exercise his First Amendment right.
At what point does one mouthing some of the most terrifying Rapp songs come under fire? Or does that fall under the Left’s political safe haven? More importantly, at what point will some of the most articulate Conservative radio talk-show hosts be gathered up and detained indefinitely?
Conservative voices across the country cried out before and after the vote was taken for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Conservatives understood way ahead of the curve what this potentially pernicious law could mean—for all of us. The Democrats are clearly going after ex-military. This is only the beginning what our Veterans will endure, as this law will quietly transform its affliction onto all of us. The vagueness of this law is most discerning. This power grab of our freedom is a devastating blow to our Constitution.
Smart meters have become a false reality, the unexplained inordinate purchase of one billion rounds of ammo by this government, the Feds are taking over states’ rights, the TSA has gone beyond inappropriate behavior in keeping us “safe,” the drones are already domestically circling and this administration—uneducated in the medical profession—wants to dictate who, how, when and if we will receive medical care, while our borders are not secure and our financial stability is at stake.
Yes, indeed, we, the greatest country in the world, will face horrific domestic devastation—to all of us—if the military advances much further in encroaching on our Constitution. The domestic battle for our country’s future and becoming a police state will be decided by this election.
Obama’s newly-concocted campaign slogan “Forward” is not a miscalculated and erroneous word choice. Vorwarts! Vorwarts! (meaning Forward) was a Nazi marching tune. Where is the outrage? The Democrats have no problem as they continue to subject all of us to the perimeters of our language, claiming discrimination against one minority or the other. Where is the voice for the millions of our innocent Jewish and Polish fellow men and women who endured utter inhumane torture? Offensive? This is beyond offensive.
We can only “hope” for Obama’s explanation as to his inexcusably tardy visit to New Orleans—still no sound bites from the Democrats—long after Romney’s visit. What we can be assured of this week at the DNC is the arrogance that will exude from this most inept leader our country has ever been plagued with as he stands before the teleprompter and attempts to bamboozle Americans one more time along with his expected abdication from us if he gets another four years. Have your Tums in hand.
