77406 resident no longer zips up

Those with a 77406 zip code are advised that their voter registration cards, about 45,000 of them, will be mailed out. But, “at this point we are simply waiting for the PO (Purchase Order) to be issued,” said the county’s Elections Administrator, John Oldham.
Information “recently placed in our MUD bill,” alerted residents that new voter registration cards were not received, said one of the Pecan Grove recipients. How did this come to light? There was a poll. Why not? After all, this is election related.
“According to a poll taken, many voters in the zip code 77406 did not receive their cards,” reads a message from the Fort Bend County Elections Administration in the neighborhood’s water bill. That office further advises that all active voters in Pecan Grove will be mailed replacement cards in advance of the November 2012 Election.
In April 2012, registered voters in Fort Bend County were mailed the new, yellow voter certificates, as the cards are called. That mail out was intended for all registered voters in the county.
“Me and my husband had recently voted in the last two primary and run-off elections located here at the Austin Elementary School,” said the Pecan Grove resident. She said they had old voter cards that expired in December 2011, “and I really didn’t even notice that these cards even expired, because most times we use our driver’s license for ID.”
The resident said she and her husband were told “by the poll people that there was a mix up in the new area zip codes (which we have had well over a year or more) and that our new voter cards were being mailed out to everyone and would arrive shortly.”
“Where are they,” she wants to know after more than a month after the July runoffs when she was told of the mix up. “I’m as madd (sic) as hell…and there is something smelly about this situation,” she charges.
Oldham told the Star, “You should receive a press release when we do so.” Again…the hold up is the “PO,” which is also having a “PO” effect, the other kind, on those without the voter registration cards.
