Fort Bend Theatre Announces AUDITIONS For Neil Simon’s Comedy The Sunshine Boys

Fort Bend Theatre, 2815 North Main Street, Stafford, be holding auditions for adults on Monday, September 17 and Wednesday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m for the classic comedy Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys.

The following roles are available:

  • EDDIE, male, any age – the assistant director of a televised variety special on the history of comedy.*
  • SKETCH PATIENT, any gender, any age – actor appearing as the “straight man” in the beginning of a televised sketch.*
  • REGISTERED NURSE, female, 30’s – 60’s – A nurse who’s been there and done that. Willie’s antics roll off her like water off a duck’s back. This is not to say she doesn’t care about doing a good job; she’s simply not going to be thrown off her game by anyone. Calm and in control.

*The roles of both Eddie, and the Sketch Patient are ideal parts for individuals with limited experience onstage – those looking to get started in acting, or who have always wanted to “give it a try” would be well-suited for either part, which involves limited rehearsal obligations.

The roles of Willie Clark, Al Lewis, Ben, and the Sketch Nurse have been cast.

The Sunshine Boys is currently in rehearsals. The play opens on October 19, closing November 10. Performances are Friday & Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m., with two Sunday matinee performances at 3:00 p.m. on October 28 & November 4. Rehearsal days will average 3-4 days per week, and may include Saturday & Sunday afternoons as well as Monday – Thursday evenings.

Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. Scripts are available by contacting the director, Joey Milillo, @ 281.543.4477 or  for more information please check the FBT website,
