L.E.A.F. in running for $250,000 donation
Out of thousands of charities across the nation, the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation (L.E.A.F.) was chosen to be a part of the 2012 Chase Community Giving program. With your help, L.E.A.F. may be able add $250,000 to its fundraising efforts, which will eventually help students and teachers in Lamar CISD.
This year, Chase customers and employees were asked to nominate charities that meant the most to them and L.E.A.F. was one of them. Now that the nominations are in, the voting phase is beginning.
“This is one of those situations where it is truly an honor just to be nominated,” said L.E.A.F. Executive Director Janice Knight. “We have more students every year, which means more teachers, writing more awesome grant requests. I can hardly wait to see the good they can do with this extra money.”
Chase will be giving $5 million to 196 charities. Your vote could help L.E.A.F. receive the top prize of $250,000. Voting started Thursday.
The top vote-getter will get $250,000, while the remaining donations will be dispersed based on where each organization finishes in the voting.
The rest of the donations will break down as follows:
• Nos. 2 – 11 will receive $100,000;
• Nos. 12 -46 will receive $50,000;
• Nos. 47- 96 will receive $20,000; and
• Nos. 97 – 196 will receive $10,000.
The easiest way to vote is to log-on to Facebook, become a friend of the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation, and then follow the link on their website. Chase Bank customers can also vote at Chase.com/ChaseGiving.
Voting ends September 19.
