A community alert was issued Tuesday, about noon, after reports of an elderly man following area youngsters as they walk down Cinco Ranch streets.
A Sheriff’s Office spokesperson indicated that Cinco Ranch residents need to remain vigilant because on two separate occasions within the past two weeks a white male, between 50 and 60 years of age has been seen following youngsters.
The latest incident was on Sunday, September 2, about 7:45 pm., on Morning Park Drive in the neighborhood south of Katy. The suspect/suspicious man was described by the youngster, who the man offered a ride, as grey headed with facial wrinkles. He was reportedly driving a 2005 – 2006 white Toyota Tacoma with a Texas handicap license plate and a breast cancer awareness sticker on the tailgate.
Another incident was reported to have occurred on August 29, at approximately 3:15 in the afternoon. In that case a young girl was walking home from the bus stop near Morning Park Drive. A white pickup appeared to follow slowly behind the child as she walked toward her home. This child’s father witnessed the truck appearing to be following his child and walked out to meet his daughter. Reportedly the truck sped away.
Sheriff’s spokesperson said, “ County Special Crimes Detectives are actively investigating both incidents and are requesting assistance from the surrounding communities.”
