Opening Ceremonies comes to Austin High School

The Austin Varsity Cheerleaders

On the afternoon of Saturday, August 25, the fun began at Austin High School with the Fall Sports Kick-off. The AHS Marching Band drumline led all of the athletes coaches and families into the auditorium where Coach Daniel Schreiber officially opened the Fall Sports season by saying……….”Let the games begin!”

The NJROTC presented the colors and a AHS Choir Member sang the National Anthem. Other participants were the Orchestra, Angels, Cheerleaders, Volleyball, Football, Cross Country, Golf, Swimming/Diving, PALS and Trainers.  AHS Theatre also performed skit with students from various groups promoting the “We Are Austin” theme.

The cheerleaders taught the crowd some of the school cheers to get the fans ready for the season.  The drum-line, Orchestra and Angels also entertained the crowd.  There were several video presentations that featured students from all sports entitled Your Moment of Truth.  By the end of the evening, Bulldog fans were left with anxious excitement for the upcoming fall sports season.

Also in attendance at the event were Dr. Rhonda McWilliams, Asst. FBISD Superintendent and Mrs. Mary Ellen Edge, principal of AHS. Events like this hope to Build Pride, Passion, & Tradition for Austin High School sports. “The goal of an event like this is to foster within the entire community a sense of family.  Every person attending our opening ceremonies is part of the “family” of Austin High School.  Creating a sense within the community that they are all part of bigger picture and part of “family” is hugely positive to the development of a healthy community.” , said Albert Muller, the chairperson of this event.
