Richmond’s 175th Birthday celebration adds raffle and cookie contest


“A beautiful Texas quilt will be raffled off at the Historic Richmond Association (HRA) booth, in front of City Hall. Tickets will be available from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and the winner will be announced during the closing ceremonies,” said Rebecca Maitland, Chair, Richmond’s 175th Birthday Celebration and president, Historic Richmond Association.

The multi-colored Texas themed quilt, approximately 68″x68″ was hand sewn, embroidered and quilted by Pat Hebert, 2012. Raffle tickets are $2 each, three for $5 or a book of ten for $15. “Between now and Sept. 15, raffle tickets can be purchased at The Secret Garden, 209 S. 4th Street, in downtown Richmond, Texas, or call, 832.752.9645 for more information.  All funds raised through the raffle will go toward beautification of downtown Richmond.

First Community Bank in Richmond, is hosting a Cookie Contest the day of Richmond’s 175th Birthday Celebration, to register to participate in the Cookie Contest, please submit your name and phone number to Lindsay Pearson via phone, 281-632-1431 or email Lindsay.pearson@myFCBtexas.com by 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14. Contest begins at noon and voting ends at 6:00 p.m.

“All those attending the 175th Birthday Celebration are invited to come by First Community Bank, to taste, judge and vote for their favorite cookie. The winners, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, will be announced during closing ceremonies,” said Lindsay Pearson, spokesperson, First Community Bank, Richmond.

The first place winner will receive $50 First Community Bank Savings Account and a large safe deposit box. Second place winner will win $25 First Community Bank Savings Account and a small safe deposit box. Third place winner will win $15 First Community Bank Savings Account and one small safe deposit box.
