Kempner’s Bezos Scholar to host Voter Registration Festival, October 6
On Saturday, October 6, the public is invited to take part in “The Power of ONE” voter registration and education festival, which will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at Sugar Land Town Square Plaza (in front of City Hall at 15958 City Walk, Sugar Land 77479). The event will feature a voter registration booth, a meet and greet with local politicians and members of the Fort Bend Voters’ League, winners of FBISD’s secondary school voter registration contest, and live entertainment.
“The Power of One” voter registration festival is the project of 2012 Bezos Family Scholar, Christopher Sabbagh of Kempner High School. With support from Bezos Educator Scholar, Naomi Brown of FBISD’s Gifted and Talented Mentorship Program, Sabbagh planned the event as his Local Ideas Festival. All Bezos Family Scholars are required to host their own Local Ideas Festival focusing on a relevant community issue.
The event is being sponsored by Fort Bend ISD, Kempner High School, The Bezos Family Scholars Program, FBISD’s Gifted and Talented Mentorship Program, and the Texas Association of Student Councils.
Come out and exercise your right to vote by taking part in this Voter Registration Fair. For the event location map, go to www.sugarlandtownsquare.com.
