Students Walk for a Cause: The 5th Annual Tracie Hester Walk

Fort Bend ISD students will join forces on November 10, to host the 5th Annual Tracie Hester / Life Donor Scholarship Walk. The walk will be held at Austin High School located at 3434 Pheasant Creek, Sugar Land, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The program includes: Walk of Pride around AHS, Dance performances by the Travis Belles and Austin Angels, guest speakers, performers, and much more. The Angels’ directors Lilian Mason and Ashlee Williamson note that, “Tracie’s life and her family’s actions following her passing away have inspired the Austin Band and Angels in ways that are indescribable. She is proof of our tradition, ‘Be Remembered.’”

The Tracie Hester / Life Gift Scholarship Walk is a charitable event that serves to bring awareness to the local community about becoming blood and organ/tissue donors. It also educates people about the life and legacy of Tracie Hester.  This event is hosted and organized by the AHS DECA Program and supported by the Travis Belles and Austin Angels Dance Teams.

Tracie Hester was an AHS graduate and a proud Austin Angel who was tragically killed in a car accident in October 6, 2006. Tracie was a Life Gift donor and was able to help more than 100 people through organ and tissue donation. Though Tracie was an AHS graduate, her passing shook the communities of both Austin and Travis, as two of Tracie’s siblings were Travis students.

All donations should be made out to AHS.  T-shirt order forms will be available on the Austin High School Band Booster Club website.  All proceeds go towards the Tracie Hester Scholarship, which benefits both AHS and THS students. Scholarship entries and finalist interviews will be conducted later in the year.

The ultimate goal of this event is to provide continuing funding for the scholarships that bear Tracie’s name and to encourage people to sign up to be Life Donors.  Hester spent much of her short life helping others, and she has continued to do so even after her passing.  For more information contact Lilian Mason at 281-634-7668 or .
