Stephen F. Austin Band introduces new cars
For a few hours on Saturday October 13, Gillman Subaru Southwest was transformed into something more reminiscent of carnival as they unveiled the all-new, rear-wheel Subaru BRZ sports car and the all new Subaru XV Crosstrek. The Stephen F. Austin High Marching Band introduced the cars by marching in front of them playing marching band music and then parting – so the cars could be unveiled. After the introduction of the cars, the Austin Angels dance team broke out in their own rendition of gangnam style. “Gangnam Style” is a Korean neologism mainly associated with upscale lavish lifestyle associated with trendsetters in Seoul’s Gangnam district, similar to Houston’s West U district. Everyone at the event enjoyed this energetic dance and was struck by the band and Angels’ energy and enthusiasm.
Mrs. Kris Knopp, president of the AHS Band Booster Club, had this to say about the event, “We have a talented and hardworking group of kids. This was a great venue for them to get out into the community and showcase their talents beyond our normal half time show. We are thankful to Wally Elostaz at Gillman Subaru for the opportunity to be a part of The Big Event 4. ”. For the band and Angels participation in this event, Gillman Subaru Southwest made a donation to the Stephen F. Austin High Marching Band and Angels Dance Team and the funds will be used to support the maintenance and operations of the band and dance team.
As much fun as events like this are, The Stephen F. Austin High Marching Band and Angels Dance Team is working hard to fine tuning their show entitled “Coming into the Light” as they prepare to head to UIL competitions and the BOA Super Regional Championships on November 2 in San Antonio, Texas.
