Brewing help for kids in need

Making preparations for the coffee are (L to R): Linda McClellan, Child Advocates of Fort Bend Events Specialist Lisa Moore, Pat Somers, Sandi Safier, Julia Stoner, Pam Duggan Gray and Susan O’Hara of CRU Home.

With a little help from Friends of Child Advocates of Fort Bend (CAFB), abused and neglected children are getting opportunities they never could have imagined. Friends is hosting its annual membership coffee on Tuesday, October 23 from 10am until 11:30am at 19 Glen Eagles Dr. in Sugar Land to grow its membership. In addition to coffee and pastries, Allyson Huth from CRU Home will share holiday decorating ideas and demonstrations.

Friends of Child Advocates of Fort Bend is an auxiliary group to fund the “extras” like summer camp, a letter jacket, driver’s education and prom supplies, among other things, for children served by CAFB. Joining friends requires a simple $35 annual membership contribution that funds a variety of activities which support Child Advocates of Fort Bend and helps improve the lives of the child victims served by the agency.

Guests are encouraged to bring Target or Wal-Mart gift cards to help purchase emergency supplies for children served by Child Advocates of Fort Bend. The amount should be indicated on the card..
