Pumpkin decorating and carving contests to be held at Missouri City Branch Library
Are you the Michelangelo of pumpkin decorating or carving? Show off your talent at the Missouri City Branch Library in October, when the library will host two pumpkin contests – one for decorating pumpkins and one for carving pumpkins.
Pumpkin-artistes may submit entries in the Pumpkin-Decorating Contest by Wednesday, October 24, to be eligible to win ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place. The festive pumpkins, which will be displayed throughout the library through the end of the month, may be decorated with paint, stickers, or any other materials that help to express the artiste’s unique perspective and whimsy. The winner will be announced on October 31.
If you are more of a carver, bring your pumpkin and your carving materials on Saturday, October 27, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, for a Pumpkin-Carving Contest. The library will provide decorative items, stencils, reference books, markers and paints. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place entries.
The Missouri City Branch Library is located at 1530 Texas Parkway. The contests are free and open to people of all ages. For more information, call the Missouri City Branch Library at 281-238-2100.
