Clements cadets prepare for cake cutting ceremony
The U.S. Navy celebrated its 237th birthday on October 13, and the U.S. Marine Corps will celebrate its 237th irthday on November 10. To mark these anniversaries, the Clements High School NJROTC cadets are preparing for their own celebration on November 7.
The cadets will form in the gymnasium for the 5th Annual Navy/Marine Corps Cake-Cutting Ceremony. The ceremony consists of: March on Colors, Presentation of Birthday Cake, Navy/Marine Corps Birthday Messages from Chief of Naval Operations and Commandant of the Marine Corps, and the actual Cake-Cutting Ceremony. In keeping with Navy tradition, the first slice of cake is given to the Guest of Honor.
The second slice is given to the oldest cadet, who then passes it to the youngest cadet, signifying the passing of knowledge from one to another. Guest of Honor will be Vietnam Veteran Sergeant Charles G. Ynman Jr., Junior Vice-Commandant, Dept. of Texas Marine Corps League. The ceremony commences at 9 am on November 7th at W.P. Clements High School in Sugar Land.
Local Vetrans are invited to attend.
