Meadows Place implements the TLC Program
By Karen Daniels
In an attempt to deter auto burglary, Chief Gary Stewart, implemented the TLC program (Take Out Valuables, Lock Your Vehicle, Close Your Windows) to educate the public on what they could do to help themselves. TLC stands for: Take out valuables; Lock your vehicle; Close your windows. According to statistics, in the State of Texas a vehicle is broken into every 2 ½ minutes. Chief Stewart and the police department randomly inspect parked vehicles and issue “report cards” with a pass/fail score to individuals in commercial and residential areas of The City of Meadows Place.
Last month the police department handed out 251 report cards; 166 Passed and 85 Failed. If you received a “fail” the brochure will list the reasons why and prevention tips to assist with protecting yourself and your property. Something as simple as mail left inside your vehicle can lead to identity theft.
And, with the holidays coming up, it is important to either remove all packages from your car or make sure they are hidden from site. Unlocked doors and open windows (even slightly) make it all too easy for criminals to get to your belongings, and it doesn’t matter if you are just running quick errands.
If you witness someone looking into cars and checking door handles, always call the police.
