Voter IDs, Drugs and the Post Office

It looks like Congressman Pete Olson has two active cases relating to post office matters.

There’s one having to do with a letter he sent to the Postmaster General urging an investigation into missing voter registration cards in Fort Bend County. His concern focuses on voters deserving answers about the missing cards, how they were lost and whether there is the potential for voter fraud.

Melissa Kelly, Communications Director with Olson’s office out of the Washington D.C. office said, “we are advocating for both constituents,” meaning the constituents at large and a particular one, a Sugar Land resident. He reported missing prescription drug medications intended for his daughter. When he went to pick them up several weeks ago after having received a yellow slip in his mailbox about their arrival, they could not be found. There was “nada” at the post office. The controlled substance prescription was gone, and this is the second go-round for the resident in a repeat performance stemming from another incident in January. This time he not only filed a report with the Inspector General about the matter, but also with Congressman Olson.

“We have not yet gotten all of the information we need, but are actively working to help both cases,” said Kelly.

The post office where the prescription drugs are missing is in Sugar Land on Grants Lake. It’s the one that was the subject of missing and tampered with prescription drugs a little over a year ago. Back then, the local post office manager was apprised of the irregularity and the Postmaster General was sent reports of the incidents. Who gets the feedback about any kind of resolution is unknown at this time. More to come.
