Citizen Filmmaker Video Contest winners named at Sartartia Middle School
Sartartia Middle School was named first-place winner of the Citizen Filmmaker Video Contest, sponsored by the SWAMP (Southwest Alternative Media Project). SWAMP launched the contest in honor of its 35th anniversary.
Contestants were given a week to create a two-minute video using a camera attached to a mobile device of their choosing, and upload it to YouTube or Vimeo. The following week, the world got to vote for the videos they liked best.
Eighth-grade students in Chris Spisak’s media production class created a video titled, “Why Should YOU Support Young Artists?” which was shot entirely on the iPhone 4S. The video received the most LIKES (738) on its School Tube page and was named winner of the contest.
As the winner, Sartartia will have its video screened on October 5 at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston before the Manhattan Short Film Festival. To view the winning video, go to http://bit.ly/O6vSQX.
