Pregnancy Resource Medical Center’s fundraising event held

It was a crisp, beautiful morning on Saturday, October 6, 2012. The Pregnancy Resource Medical Center parking lot was arrayed with tents, chairs and tables covered with lovely harvest-themed décor donated by Faith United Methodist Church. PRMC staff and volunteers were scurrying around making sure that every-thing was in place for this important day.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m., Executive Director, Tama Chunn welcomed everyone in attendance and Chairman of the Board, Angie Borges shared about the journey leading to this special day. Chairman Borges stated that there were two very important issues that she felt must be addressed.  First, “We must stand up for women who feel frightened and alone when they find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy. We must offer them the support and education with the truth and facts that they need in order to make the choice for life of their unborn child.  Secondly, we must protect the unborn, for all life is sacred.”  Rounds of applause from the crowd clearly showed the support for these two important goals of the PRMC.

Next on the day’s agenda, Father Joe Templado, Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, along with other local pastors, prayed over the new ultrasound machine and then christened it with the name “Maggie” (Miracles are God’s Gift in Everything). They also prayed for the many lives that will be changed and saved because of this new program. Right after, representatives of the Knights of Columbus Councils of Ft. Bend County, who had been raising the funds for “Maggie” for more than a year, joined in a representation of the almost $60,000 raised through their efforts (including matching funds from the national KC office). The special dedication ended with the ‘Ribbon Cutting’ ceremony at 10:00 a.m. and the Center tours began! This event marked a pivotal moment in the life of the Pregnancy Resource Medical Center.

For quite a while the PRMC has been sharing the goal, vision and need for an ultrasound program. As each phase has progressed, it has been thrilling to share with our supporters’, updates on goals achieved. We have solicited prayers, donations and support in this endeavor and this day allowed us to share with our dedicated supporters the fruit of everyone’s labors.

As always, if you are interested in becoming a part of the Pregnancy Resource Medical Center as a donor or volunteer, please contact us at (281)232-2375.
