Donald Hetherington

Donald Hetherington, 73, passed away on November 19, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Don was preceded in death by his mother, Bee and his father, Orin. He is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Michelle Schopp and husband Harry; Patricia Skaggs and husband A.J.; Kevin and wife Deana; Natalie Driver and husband Johnny; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Don proudly served his country for 28 years in the United States Navy. While serving his country he achieved his dream as Commanding Officer of the USS Mount Baker. After retiring from the Navy he worked as Deputy Director for the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets. He left the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets for Texas to take command of the NJROTC unit at Clements High School in Sugar Land. He retired from teaching in 2005. He was a dedicated instructor who loved teaching and building future leaders.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2012, at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77479.  Inurnment will follow at Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.  Condolences may be offered at www.millerfuneral.com.
