Sugar Land resident and former Lamar Consolidated standout Dylan Siebenaler has signed a national letter of intent to play golf for Texas A&M University, beginning in 2013.

Siebenaler was recruited by a number of well-known Division 1 golf programs across the country, but he decided to stay close to home and play for the Aggies.

“Choosing A&M was an easy decision for me,” said Siebenaler.  “The Aggie golf program is consistently ranked among the best in the country under Coach (J.T.) Higgins and the practice facilities are second to none.  From the first time that I visited the campus, I knew that A&M was a special place.”

“Dylan has the potential to develop into an outstanding player for us,” Higgins said.  “His instructor, Paul Marchand (of Shadow Hawk Golf Club), is one of the best in Texas and together they have developed an excellent golf swing.

When you pair that with Dylan’s incredible work ethic, the sky is the limit for him. He has already had some good success at both the national and state levels and we believe he is going to do nothing but get better here at Texas A&M.”

As his success grew, Siebenaler’s budding career required a great deal of coordination.  Terry Siebenaler. his mom, would often drive her son to tournaments and Chris Siebenler, his dad and CEO of Methodist Hospital Sugar Land, would join when work permitted.  The Siebenalers eventually learned to get the most out of each event.

“It’s been amazing watching Dylan go through this process,” says Terry.  “He has such an incredible work ethic – practicing every day, working out and eating healthy – and to see him achieve his dream of playing for Texas A&M is an incredible feeling.”

Despite his busy schedule and focus on golf, Siebenaler has remained committed to academics, maintaining an A average while taking a full load of AP, honors and dual credit classes.

“We are as proud of Dylan’s academic achievements as we are of his success on the golf course,” says Chris.
