Debbie Levine to be honored with Hadassah’s Women of Courage Award

Sugar Creek resident Debbie Levine will be honored with Hadassah’s Women of Courage Award at an upcoming luncheon where world renowned child advocate and abduction survivor Elizabeth Smart will be the keynote speaker.

Debbie is the founder of Women of Courage and also this year’s honoree of the award that is now celebrating its 9th year of recognizing extraordinary women who have focused on important issues and gone the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of others.

Debbie moved from Florida to Sugar Land in 1981.Throughout her years living in Sugar Land, Debbie has served as Dulles Elementary PTO President; a Health Advisory Board Member for Ft. Bend ISD where she was named Volunteer of the Year; an executive board member of the Fort Bend American Heart Association; and a Meals on Wheels volunteer.  Her leadership has also been recognized by Congregation Beth El.  In addition, Debbie is a graduate of the Fort Bend Leadership Academy.

Debbie has been a Hadassah leader since 2001 when she was recruited to serve as Co-President of the Mazal Group.  She has served as the Houston Chapter of Hadassah’s President, Greater Southwest Region Vice President, and Houston Chapter Advisor.  In addition, she was recently appointed to the Hadassah National Board as Chair of the Society of Major Donors.  Debbie is also involved in AIPAC, the pro-Israel advocacy group based in Washington, D.C., and serves as a member of its National Council.  Debbie’s passion is development, sharing Hadassah’s medical successes, embracing donors, and perpetuating Hadassah for future generations.  Through all of her work, Debbie has demonstrated that one woman truly can make a difference.

Debbie will be honored this year along with Marcie Natan, Hadassah’s national president, and Elizabeth Smart.
