Gregory Thomas “Luke” Leyden
Gregory Thomas “Luke” Leyden, 82, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on November 30, 2012. He was born on November 12, 1930 to Lincoln and Catherine Leyden in Chicago, Illinois.
Greg reminisced fondly about his high school days at Immaculate Conception. His athletic endeavors included football, basketball, and baseball. Class reunions and friendships from Immaculate Conception lasted through the years. After college and military service, Greg enjoyed great success as an accountant with both public and private corporations. He retired from Kay Ray, Inc. Greg cheered for his hometown Chicago Bears, Bulls, White Sox and Blackhawks. He also found pleasure in following professional golf as well as playing golf with other members of River Forest Country Club.
Greg was the loving husband of Betty Jane Therrien for 25 years and Lois R. Ruhlman for 31 years, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother Fred Leyden.
He is survived by his four children from his marriage to Betty, Kathleen (Patrick) O’Neill, Matthew (Deborah) Leyden, Karen (Chris) Olson, and Mark Edward Leyden. He was grandfather to twelve grandchildren Kelly O’Neill (Justin) Buck, Tracey O’Neill Schwab, Lindsey O’Neill (Robert) McGee, Katie O’Neill (Nick) Porcelius, Megan O’Neill, Shannon O’Neill, Daniel O’Neill, Kiley O’Neill, Lindsay Leyden, Matthew Gregory Leyden, Zachary Olson and Theodore Olson. His youngest descendants include five great-grandchildren, Reagan Buck, Sean Buck, Ryan Gregory Buck, Natalie Schwab and Blake Miller.
