A free fun family night set for Jan. 18

Experience fun and amazing science at the “The World of Science” – a FREE fun Family Science Night at Sartartia Middle School on January 18, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

This FREE event, sponsored by SMS Science and Robotics Club in conjunction with Kalpana Vaidya’s Take Action Project for her Girl Scout Gold Award and the Girls’ World Forum, hopes to introduce families to science and how much fun science can be.

The World of Science will feature at least 15 hands-on activities focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Activities are designed to engage children (ages K – 8th grade) and their families in science exploration. There will also be a live chemistry demonstration – limited seating. “Science is such an important subject. I felt the need to get families involved. I am hoping this event will start conversations about scientific concepts at home,” said Kalpana Vaidya, organizer of this event.

Activities will be provided by: Girl Scouts, Society of Women Engineers, Exxon/Mobil, HMNS, KSLB, American Robotics Association, Houston Gem and Mineral Society, AHS Science Club, Fort Bend Beekeepers, Fort Bend Astronomy Club and others. Concessions will be sold by SMS Science and Robotics Club and donations will be accepted. All proceeds from this event will be used to support the activities of the SMS Science and Robotics Club.

For more information about the event, please contact Kalpana Vaidya at vaidyas@msn.com.
