QV Proud Hotline 01/09/13

POWER OUTAGES? New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Seemed to affect parts of Quail Valley, Lake Olympia, Quail Valley East, etc.

FROM CENTERPOINT: “The outage on New Year’s Eve was due to lighting striking the main terminal pole out of the Quail Valley substation, causing the entire circuit to lock out (1 hr. 35 min.) until our crews could get to the location and reestablish service. The second outage on New Year’s Day was due to residual damage from the lightning. When load picked up on the circuit the next morning the circuit breaker locked out for (50 min.) Everything has been inspected and was restored to normal at this location on New Year’s Day. Both situations are tied to weather causes in this instant.”

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: PROUD ANNUAL MEETING. January 23rd, (Wednesday), 7:30 pm, Bluebonnet Grille, City Centre @ Quail Valley. Keynote Speaker: Ed Broussard, MC City Manager. He will update us on many projects affecting Quail Valley.

PROUD ELECTION OF OFFICERS: 2013 Slate of Nominees: Dan Porter, President – Howard Dunlap, Vice President – Hillary Hunter, Secretary – Shelley Lendermon, Treasurer.

STILL NOT OPEN! Kitty Hollow Dog Park just needs installation of water pipes and it will be ready for “business”. County Commissioner, Grady Prestage said he could not give me a date for the opening but it will be in January 2013. He suggested watching the local newspapers for the announcement. Also he will personally contact me so that I can run it in the PROUD HOTLINE.

LEAVING TOWN? Go on line at City web site: http://www.missouricitytx.gov/forms.aspx?FID=65 and fill out a form which will allow Police officers to check your home each day. The officer will walk the perimeter of your house (if back yard gates are not locked). Each outside door will be checked to make sure they are locked. If possible they will look inside each window to make sure nothing appears to be suspicious. When you return home you will receive a copy of their daily reports.

LOOKING TO RECYCLE OLD ELECTRONICS? Some local businesses to contact: Radio Shack, Target, Office Depot, Cartridge World, Best Buy. Additional “contact” Information: www.missouricitytx.gov OR watch Missouri City Television (Channel 16 on Comcast and Channel 99 on AT&T U-verse).
