Stafford Adult Basic Education offers free ESL & GED classes

Stafford ABE Intermediate level students and their instructor celebrate the end of the semester!

Do you need to learn English or know someone who needs this important skill?  Do you need to get your GED so that you can get a better job or go to college?  The new year is a great time to start working on new goals, and they want to help you reach them!  Stafford Adult Basic Education is  a program funded through the State of Texas and the federal government to help meet the needs of adult learners in our community. The classes are free of charge. Classroom materials are provided.

Classes meet at 605 Dulles Avenue, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Stafford. They  offer English as a Second Language Classes as well as GED classes in the mornings from 9-12 a.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m. They will be accepting new students at registration starting on January 14,    for daytime classes and on January 15 for evening classes.  Registration will continue throughout the winter months.

In their English program, they serve the needs of approximately 150 adults from around the world, ages 18-80!  They have classes at the Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels.  Their program focuses on helping students attain life skills, cultural awareness, reading skills and excellent grammar.

Their GED program is very successful at helping students earn their GED.  In January 2014, a new version of the GED test replaces the old one.  If you need a GED certificate, make it your goal to enroll in a GED program, so that you can complete the current GED test before January 2014.  If you need to retake any portion of the GED, you must schedule and pass that portion of the test before December 31, 2013.

Any students who have not completed and passed the GED test prior to December 31, 2013 will be required to restart the GED certification process.  All previous scores will be discarded.  Several changes in the new GED test make the test more appropriate for students entering a technology-driven economy.  Come to registration on January 14 or January 15, so that you can begin and complete the GED process before December 31, 2013.

Please join them this January, and let them help you make your dreams come true!  Please call 281-261-7828 for more information.
