A group of fifth-graders from Colony Meadows Elementary School had the opportunity to tour the “Hail to the Chief” Presidential Hall, constructed by Clements High School (CHS) U.S. History students.

The hall featured photos of U.S. Presidents, famous presidential slogans, favorite foods of presidents, trivia regarding First Ladies, and wall art replicas of the White House, the Lincoln Memorial and the Presidential Seal.

Mike Madden, CHS social studies teacher, welcomed the fifth-graders to the event, introducing CHS students who would lead the youngsters on a scavenger hunt along the hallway. The students were asked to find answers to such questions as: “Who was the wife of the 11th president?” “Who designed the nation’s capital?” “Who wrote the Gettysburg Address?” and “What was Obama’s campaign motto?”

The event provided students at both campuses with a fun learning experience in U.S. history.
