FBISD students performed at 2013 Rose Parade®

On New Year’s Day, several Fort Bend ISD students performed with the Bands of America (BOA) Honor Band during the 2013 Tournament of Roses Parade®. The BOA Honor Band comprised a 325-piece national ensemble that included winds, percussion and a flag and dance team. Bob Buckner, retired Director of Western Carolina University’s Marching Band, directed the honor band this year. Elizabeth Heathcock, former Director of the Austin High School Angels, assisted with the dance team.

Representing FBISD as dancers in the honors band were: Austin High School students Alyssa Caro, Annaliese Chitty, Bailea Coffel, Kristyn Conrad, Delaney Dupree, Courtney Durgens, Madison Fuqua, Kristen Johnson, Meghan Johnson, Jacqueline Juengst, Mercedes Mackay, Dayna Palmer; and Clements High School student, Isabelle Hwang. Travis High School students Adam Davis and Logan Nagai both performed on the mellophone.

“To be selected for this unique opportunity is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for students and a testimony to their excellence and achievements,” said Eric Martin, Music for All President and CEO.
