Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes education series offered
Diabetes is a chronic disease that is rapidly increasing and affects approximately 6.8% of the Fort Bend County population – whether diagnosed or unknown. “Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes” (DWBW) is an educational series that teaches nutrition and self-care information to improve the lifestyle of the person with diabetes.
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes” at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office, 1402 Band Road,Room 120 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
This is a five session series featuring: “What Is Diabetes?”/”Nutrition: First Step to Diabetes Management on Monday, March 4; “One Diabetes Diet – No Longer the Sole Option”/”Managing Your Blood Glucose” on Monday, March 11; “Nutritional Labels”/”Diabetes and Exercise” on Monday, March 18; “For Good Measure at Home and Eating Out”/”Diabetes Medicines” on Monday, March 25; and “Preventing and Managing Complications” on Monday, April 1.
Presenters for the sessions will be Sandra Fry, County Extension Agent-Family and Consumer Sciences and Dianne Gertson, County Extension Agent-Family and Consumer Sciences.
nterested persons are asked to pre-register by Wednesday, February 27 by contacting Jacque Gerke, Program Coordinator, FCS at Texas AgriLife Extension Service – phone 281-342-3034. There is a $15 registration fee for this program. Participants are requested to attend all five of the sessions and will receive a completion certificate.
