Crooks take car at gunpoint
By LeaAnne Klentzman
A Mission Bend man was returning home in his new gray Dodge Charger and
was carjacked in his driveway by a gang of gun-toting armed men about 11 pm, on the night of January 30. As the young man was getting his recently purchased dog food from the trunk of his car a pack of robbers struck and took his car at gunpoint.
He immediately contacted 911 and the information about the stolen car was radio broadcast and shared with other nearby police agencies. Shortly thereafter a Harris County deputy sheriff engaged the stolen car gang in a brief pursuit but lost the crooks as they ducked into an Alief neighborhood.
A search of the area where the stolen car was abandoned ensued with law enforcement officials from Harris County, Fort Bend County, and Houston Police Department for several hours but the crooks were never found.
The car was recovered and returned to its owner.
The case remains under investigation.
