The Sugar Land Police Officers’ Association honored two citizens with its first Citizen Assistance Award.  The Sugar Land residents were recognized for their cooperation in reporting two suspicious males that were later arrested for the burglary of a nearby residence.  The award was sponsored by Lupe Tortilla Mexican restaurant and was presented in a private ceremony to maintain the anonymity of the citizens who were afraid of retaliation.  Lupe Tortilla General Manager Edwin Valdez included two gift cards as a reward for their community service.

“The cooperation of our residents with the officers of the Sugar Land Police Department is what has helped Sugar Land consistently be one of the safest cities in the United States”, said Sugar Land Police Officers’ Association President Ed Aldredge.

The Sugar Land Police Officers’ Association plans to recognize future involvement and cooperation by its citizens with similar awards.
