Sugar Land Allstate Agent Recognized for Outstanding Volunteerism

Local Allstate agency owner Jane Spellman received the Allstate Agency Hands in the Community Award for her commitment to helping others and community service. Because of Spellman’s outstanding volunteerism, The Allstate Foundation awarded a $1000 grant to the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) where Spellman volunteers.

The grant specifically goes towards ABWA’s Stephen Bufton Memorial Scholarships to female students who will be attending accredited U.S. colleges, universities and community/vocational schools.

Now in its 61st year, The Allstate Foundation has given more than $300 million in financial contributions to communities around the country and in 2012, gave $686,000 in Texas

“The Allstate Agency Hands in the Community Award celebrates the spirit of service and commitment to communities where we live, work and do business,” said Phil Lawson, Field Senior Vice President of Allstate’s Texas Region. “With support from The Allstate Foundation, Spellman and the ABWA are making our hometown a stronger, safer place.

The Allstate Foundation awards $2 million every year to nonprofit organizations across the country in honor of dedicated Allstate agency owners who give back to their communities through outstanding volunteerism. To be eligible for nomination, Allstate agency owners must volunteer, mentor, or lead a nonprofit of their choice.
