LCISD names two principals, and head football coach

At its regular February meeting, the Lamar CISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of several administrators.

Kera Faitysek

Kera Faltysek is the new principal for Velasquez Elementary. A product of Lamar CISD, Faltysek is presently the assistant principal at Hutchison Elementary. Before entering administration, she taught at Velasquez, Travis and Beasley elementary schools in LCISD.

She has her bachelors from University of Houston-Downtown and her masters from University of Houston-Victoria. She replaces Heather Patterson who will take the helm at Ryon Middle School.

Henva Bhola

Henva Bhola is the new principal for Williams Elementary. Bhola is currently the assistant principal at Williams Elementary. Prior to coming to LCISD, she was an assistant principal and teacher in Houston ISD.

Bhola replaces Jennifer Zebold who is opening Adolphus Elementary.

Both Bhola and Faltysek will assume their new duties after Spring Break.

Shaun McDowell

Shaun McDowell is the new head football coach and campus coordinator at Foster High School.

McDowell played fullback at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and has his bachelors from the University of Houston and his masters from Lamar University. He comes to Lamar CISD after serving as the head football coach and campus athletic coordinator at Fort Bend Willowridge High School. Prior to that, he coached and taught in the Cypress-Fairbanks and Fort Bend school districts.

Kara Landgrebe was approved to be the District’s Coordinator for Student Achievement and Data Interpretation Research and Accountability. She has her bachelors from the University of Houston and her masters from Lamar University.

She comes to Lamar CISD after working as a special education teacher and a coach in Katy ISD. She also taught in Del Valle ISD.

Effective immediately, Carla Thomas is the assistant principal at Smith Elementary. She has been the interim assistant principal at the school since September, replacing Tonya Garza, who became the Director at Seguin Early Childhood Center.
