Imperial Arts presents the independent film “Homeland”

Sunday, March 17, at 12:00 p.m. Imperial Arts will present the Fort Bend Premiere of a new independent film by Fanny Veliz of Los Angeles, California, titled, “Homeland.”

Partnering with the Fort Bend Hispanic Heritage Forum, Imperial Arts secured the Fort Bend Premiere rights from Ms. Veliz through her independent production company, Criolla Films.

“Homeland” is a story of a man named Richard Lynn from neighboring El Campo, Texas, who returns home to care for his ailing father, run the family business, and then finds unexpected love.

Veliz, who wrote and directed the film, also stars in the film as “Sofia”, and will attend the Saturday, March 17 screening at the Center for the Arts.  Veliz holds dual citizenship in her native Venezuela and the United States, and has been recognized by the City of Los Angeles and the United States Senate for her work  as a film producer.

Fort Bend Hispanic Heritage Forum’s President, Joe Vera, was pleased to coordinate the film premiere, as his sister, Julia Vera, stars in the film as “Mother Escamillo.”  Vera looks forward to time with his sister while she is in town for both an El Campo and the Rosenberg screening.

Imperial Arts is offering tickets to the film for just $6 for adults, and $5 for seniors (55+), students, and military (all with ID).  Tickets are available online at, and will be available at the door on Sunday beginning at 11:00 a.m.

A portion of the proceeds from the film screening will benefit the Fort Bend Hispanic Heritage Forum.  Tax-deductible contributions to Imperial Arts and the Fort Bend Hispanic Heritage Forum to help defray costs will be welcomed.

This film is appropriate for all ages.
