Fort Bend Chamber to host update on school finance

The Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce will host an Update on School Finance with David Thompson on Thursday, April 4, 2013 with David Thompson.   The luncheon will be held at The FBISD Administrative Annex, 3119 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land, from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM.  The luncheon is underwritten by Roger, Morris & Grover, LLP.

David Thompson is a noted school attorney and public education advocate.  Thompson will discuss the recent ruling by District Judge John Dietz that the current school finance system does not comply with the requirements of the Texas Constitution.  The Plaintiffs, a group of 84 school districts that collectively educate more than 1.8 million Texas students, joined together along with three other plaintiff groups of school districts to challenge the constitutionality of the current school funding system.  Thompson will discuss the trial court’s ruling and the impact the court’s decision will have on our area districts and public education in Texas.

Individual reservation available for $15.  Register today at  or contact Farrah Gandhi at 281-566-2152 or
