Students at Lantern Lane Elementary School took part in an exciting, outdoor learning experience provided by Southwest Dairy Museum, Inc., a non-profit educational program funded by dairymen across the Southwest.

Through its mobile dairy classroom, the museum introduces students to the dairy industry by providing a learning experience that incorporates math, science, nutritional health and agriculture in an outdoor classroom format.

Mobile Dairy Classroom instructor, L. P. Voskamp, led the students in a presentation that included a tour of his traveling milking parlor that housed an actual cow, a milking demonstration, lessons on the characteristics and anatomy of dairy cows, and the importance of dairy for good health.

Voskamp concluded his presentation with a question-and-answer session.
