Optimist club awards essay contest winners
Our Optimist club held an Essay Contest for students in the FBISD high schools recently.
The essay contest rules required the essay to be between 700 to 800 words and the official topic was: “How Can I Help My Friends Realize Their Value?”
The Ft. Bend Optimist Club Sugar Land has been serving the youth of our community for the past 30 years and this is just one of the many things we do to help the kids! We are all proud of Tatiyani and all the other students who entered the contest. There were 16 total essays submitted for the competition.
1st and 2nd place winners at our Club level:
1st place winner is on the left and her name is Tatiyani Robinson and she is a Senior at Willowridge High School. 2nd place winner is Justice Ballard and she is also a Senior at Willowridge High School.
At the club level the 1st place winner received a check for $150 and 2nd place received $100. The 3rd place winner (not in picture) is Oluwatomilona Ifelayo and she is a senior at Travis High School. She received a check for $50.
The essay of Tatiyani Robinson is now being reviewed and judged (along with other essays from other clubs) at the District level. If her essay wins at the District level, she will win a scholarship of $2,500. We won’t know for another 30 days but are hopeful.
