Professional athlete Kyries Hebert encourages students to do well in school

An enthusiastic crowd of nearly 400 Hodges Bend Middle School students recently welcomed professional football player Kyries Hebert to their campus. Hebert, a safety/linebacker for the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes and former Houston Texans player, spoke to students about the pursuit of success in the face of adversity.

Hebert, who is also founder of the Ky Cares Foundation, encouraged students to set high goals for themselves and avoid distractions that may prevent them from fulfilling their dreams. “Your circumstances don’t dictate the outcome of your destination,” said Hebert. “Whatever you decide to achieve in life is possible with hard work and dedication.”

Hebert also reminded students to respect the adults in their lives, especially their teachers, saying, “Teachers are among your biggest supporters and are here because they care about your future.”

Following his remarks, Hebert answered questions from students and introduced members of the Sideline Dolls dance group, who performed one of their dance routines. The event was held to help motivate students to do well in school.
