Wilson is among 15 teachers in the greater Houston area who will receive the award during the 2012-2013 season. As a finalist, Wilson won a pair of Rockets tickets, a Teacher of the Game t-shirt and tote bag. He received a commemorative award which was presented at halftime during the Rockets’ March 3 game against the Dallas Mavericks.  He will also be recognized on rockets.com and won a $100 gift certificate for classroom supplies.

“I am excited to be recognized for all the hard work that is involved in teaching. It is such an honor that Devon Energy and the Houston Rockets take time to recognize teachers in the community for the work we do.” Wilson said.  He also said, “Everyone has a calling to make the world a better place and do God’s will in some manner.  For some, that means volunteering at an animal shelter or donating to a charity.  Some work to help the environment; others strive to achieve justice and peace. Personally, I try to help make the world a better place by making Physics fun.  It might sound silly, but I truly feel it is my calling,” Wilson said.
