Get ready to Trash-Off! This Saturday, April 13, from 9:00am to 1:00pm the City of Stafford along with Keep Texas Beautiful will be holding their 20th Annual City Wide Pride Clean Up.  Many civic group volunteers, area businesses, Stafford MSD students and churches get together in groups to help pick up debris and trash along the streets of Stafford, a tradition that began in 1993.

After the clean up, all participants will be treated to lunch at Stafford City Hall where trophies and awards are given out for categories such as: Most Trash Collected; Most Unusual Trash; Most Participants in a Group; Most Valuable Trash; and Oldest Trash Collected. Along the way, the City will also have hidden surprises for each group to find that will result in extra spending cash, so be sure and pick up every piece!

In addition to the clean-up, residents and businesses will be able to bring sensitive documents for shredding. National Association for Information Destruction will be at City Hall from 9:00am to 12:00pm, and to make this convenient for everyone, you don’t even have to get out of your car. The operation will be setup with drive-thru service.

This day will also be an opportunity for residents to place heavy trash at their curbside for pick up beginning at 7:00am. WCA will be joining Stafford’s efforts, offering curbside pickup for large items like refrigerators and freezers, but coolant must be drained from appliances first. Also, no paint, chemicals, batteries, car parts, or household waste will be accepted. (Batteries can be dropped off at Stafford Auto Supply.)

Again this year, Firestone Tire & Service Center will be canvassing the neighborhoods to pick up used tires (without rims). Tires can be placed curbside as well, but keep it separate from the heavy trash.

The City of Stafford welcomes everyone to join the fun. If you have a group that would like to participate in the clean up or you’d like to volunteer to assist City staff, please contact the offices at 281-261-3941.
