YMCA Golf Classic a big success for area youth and families

YMCA Golf Winners! – First Place (From Left to Right) – R.B. Brimlee, Ed Cheek, Steve Hansen, Jerry Dockum and Eric Schenkelberg, Y District Executive.

The YMCAs of Fort Bend County, which includes the Fort Bend, Katy and TW Davis YMCAs, recently held its 7th Annual Spring Golf Classic and Auction on Monday, March 25.  Over 115 golfers participated in the one day event held at Pecan Grove Country Club in Richmond, which netted the YMCA almost $45,000 for its annual Partners Fundraising Campaign

Immediately following the tournament, a dinner was held at the Pecan Grove Country Club, which included silent and live auctions. The live and silent auctions brought in over $5,000 for the YMCA’s Partners Campaign.  The high bidder of the night was David and Dan Howard of Staff Force Personnel Services for their winning bid on the “Big D” Dallas Cowboys game package.

The dinner event also recognized the teams with the best low gross and low net scores of the tournament.  The first place team with a low gross score of 57 was the Telluride Construction team of Jerry Dockum, Steve Hansen, Ed Cheek and R.B. Brimlee.  The first place team in the low-net category went to the Yellow Cab team of Chris Spears, Paul Hannah, Joe Ittner and KeithBorgfeldt.  Other winners included the longest drive competition champions, Jackie Wilcox and R.B. Brimlee.  The closest to the pin winners were Jackie Wilcox and Jerry Dockum.  The pre-event putting contest was won by Jerry Edmonson.  The “Hit The Green Contest”, with a prize of a 55” TV sponsored by Best Buy, was won by Eric Johnson.
