Protesting Property Appraisals Online

Many Fort Bend County property owners probably don’t know, but this is the third year that the Fort Bend County Appraisal District will allow property value assessments to be protested online.

It’s that time of the year when the CAD tells you that what you’ve received in the mail is NOT a tax bill, but a notice of appraised value of your property for tax purposes.  According to Chief Appraiser Glen Whitehead, the first batch of notices went out April 15, the one for residential property owners.  Another batch is expected to go out on May 1 .

There about about 187,000 residential properties in Fort Bend, and of those, Whitehead said that online protests have run between six to seven thousand.

The protest period begins May 1 and runs through May 31.

For more information, visit the Fort Bend CAD website or give them a call, 281- 344-8623.
