Rita Drabek featured speaker at Society’s birthday celebration

Rita Drabek spoke to her fellow sisters of Delta Kappa Gamma and received a rose for her role in chartering the Lambda Sigma Chapter.

The Lambda Sigma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society of key women educators held its annual birthday celebration at Lexington Creek Elementary on February 20th which marked 31 years.

Rita Drabek, the keynote speaker, was Lambda Sigma’s first president from 1982-1984.  She is one of the charter members of the Lambda Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.  Mrs. Drabek was a classroom teacher and an administrator during her tenure with the Fort Bend Independent School District.  After retirement, she served on Fort Bend’s School Board where she became President.

Rita Drabek Elementary was named after her due to her many years of service and dedication to the students and teachers she worked with.  Mrs. Drabek, along with other charter members, was honored for her years of service and dedication to Delta Kappa Gamma.

The next Lambda Sigma meeting will be held in the home of Mary Ann Dolezal on April 5.  Members will have fun playing Bunco, socializing, and welcoming guests.
