Lake Olympia Garden Club Garden Tour this weekend

Garden Club President Jo Ann Keene checks her yard and some of the patio art that will be for sale at the Tour.

Lake Olympia Garden Club will sponsor its first annual Garden Tour on Saturday, May 4, 9:00a.m.-1:00 p.m. The tour, which is free, will feature 7 gardens in the Lake Olympia area. Each home will feature a different type of garden.

At the home of Garden Club President Jo Ann Keene, starter plants, potted plants, and patio art will be available for purchase.

Those interested in touring should follow the signs along Lake Olympia Blvd. which will direct them to one of the homes. Maps outlining other gardens on the tour will be available at each home.

Profits from the sale of items at the Tour will be used to help support Shared Dreams, Senior Meals on Wheels, and Special Pals animal shelter.

The latest project of the group is the newly organized garden at the East Fort Bend Ministry Center in Stafford.

Club member Linda Strother has designed and developed the garden which is maintained by volunteer help.

“All the fresh items grown in the garden are given to the clients of the Harvest program,” states Linda. “We are grateful to Lake Olympia Garden Club for donating money to help develop the garden and provide our watering system.”

The Garden Club is open to anyone who lives in the Missouri City area.

For more information contact Jo Ann Keene at 281-438-2174 or keeneellie@att.net.
