It was GRAND! 10th year Wine & Food Affair with the Fort Bend Chamber

The Sugar Land Grand Wine & Food Affair was five days of notable events with sold out functions that kicked off with a taste of New Orleans as “A Family Affair” with Brennan’s restaurant chefs last Wednesday, then a bartender challenge, wine and scotch seminars, and the gigantic gatherings at the Sugar Land Marriott ballroom, the Imperial Sugar Factory Redevelopment historic area for the second time for the immensely popular Sip and Stroll.

Becky and Dennis Parmer, Mary Von Tungeln and Randy Fournier were among those spotted outdoors on the grounds of the twin smoke stacks, in the Char House and another building being restored, both of them historic and filled with festive twinkling lights, good food, wines and friendly, happy faces like the ones dancing to the live salsa band.

Then there was the wrap up at Sugar Land Town Square, the Sunday morning bistro brunch…and more dancing.  Susie Goff and Sugar Land Councilmember Amy Mitchell were volunteered recruits and gracefully mimicked the moves of the incredibly talented bollywood dancers!

Seems like just about everybody kept coming back for more of this wine, that cocktail (like the spicy kiss), and the tasty eats from the best kitchens of so many talented chefs.  This year’s event turns out to have special significance for the UH Hilton College students as they took a lead role in management and experienced working alongside those in the industry reputably recognized in food & beverage management, culinary arts, and event planning.

Chamber of Commerce weather…that was the outdoor bistro brunch temp on Sunday at the city plaza, and one would think Executive Director Keri Schmidt requested it. But Saturday’s Sip and Stroll was wrapped up with strong rains that showed up seemingly uninvited, but hopefully in celebration of putting an end to what has been a tough, drought season.  Catch a glimpse of the great foodie and wine affair by visiting for an assortment of photos.  Relive a bit of what you enjoyed and if you weren’t there, consider making it a point to do it next year…it’s like a yearly bucket list must-do!
