Fort Bend ISD names its 2013 Bilingual and ESL Teachers of the Year

Congratulations to Fort Bend ISD’s 2013 Bilingual and ESL Teachers of the Year. They are: Walter Valenzuela of Holley Elementary School, Bilingual Teacher of the Year; Leyla Halimi of Clements High School, Secondary ESL Teacher of the Year; and Lily Monroe of Fleming Elementary School, Elementary ESL Teacher of the Year. They were selected from a pool of 17 FBISD teachers to represent the District in the Houston Area Association for Bilingual Education’s (HAABE) Teacher of the Year Program.

Two of the district winners were also named ESL Teachers of the Year at the HAABE April 26 awards banquet. Lily Monroe was named the 2013 HAABE Elementary ESL Teacher of the Year, and Leyla Halimi was named the 2013 HAABE Secondary ESL Teacher of the Year. Halimi will go on to represent FBISD and HAABE in the state competition.
