COSTCO’s construction clearly underway

At the start of the year there was no real visible sign of major activity at the intersection of U.S. 59 and University Boulevard, but today…voila…the COSTCO in Sugar Land looks like it may be gearing up for an opening sooner than we think.

This specific site with the “Coming Soon” banner is between Wescott Avenue, Wallingford Avenue and U.S. 59, information provided by city spokesperson Doug Adolph. But, if you’re on U.S. 59 headed towards Victoria alongside Telfair on the other side of University Boulevard, you’ll clearly see the massive building along the interstate with a gas station pump area, also under construction.

Adolph advises that the $10 million capital investment project creating 150 jobs is expected to be finished in the fall.

It seems like just the other day, back in September 2012, the Sugar Land city council held a public hearing for the proposed final development plan to establish the wholesale store on part of the 84-acre site of the Telfair Center Lakefront District.
