Intro computer classes offered at library

The Adult Services staff at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Sienna Branch Library, 8411 Sienna Springs Blvd in Missouri City, will present a variety of free, introductory technology classes this month. The classes will consist of a hands-on introduction to basic skills for people who would like to learn more about using these computer programs.
The “MS PowerPoint Survival Basics” class for version 2010 will take place on Wednesday, June 5, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab.

The class “Apple-licious Apps and Free eBooks on Your iPad” will take place on Thursday, June 6, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. Learn about the free or low-cost apps (applications) that can be downloaded to iPhones, iPads, and iTouches. Categories include health, utilities, entertainment, education, news, and much more. Those attending will also learn how to download the library’s free eBooks onto digital reading devices. Please bring a library card, PIN, Apple device and iTunes account information.

The “MS Word Survival Basics” class for version 2010 will take place on Wednesday, June 12, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab.

The “MS Excel Survival Basics” class for version 2010 will take place on Wednesday, June 19, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab.

“Introduction to Facebook” will take place on Tuesday, June 25, beginning at
10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. Learn how to use this popular social-networking website. Those attending this class should have a working email address and password.

The “MS Publisher Survival Basics” class for version 2010 will take place on Wednesday, June 26, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. Learn how to make cards, invitations, forms, banners, signs, and many other items with this versatile computer program.

The classes are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Calendar,” select “Sienna Branch,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-238-2900, or by visiting the library.
