Man robbed, taken hostage while fishing

Sunday morning about 11:19 a.m., Sugar Land Police were called to investigate an aggravated robbery that occurred in the 14100 block of the Southwest Freeway.

According to Sugar Land public information officer Doug Adolph, a 58 year old man was fishing in a lake along the feeder road when he was approached by a black male with a pistol. The pistol toting man demanded the fisherman’s keys but soon discovered he could not operate the manual transmission.

So, in plan B, the pistol toting crook ordered the fisherman to get into the car and drive him to Stafford. The pistol toting crook got out of the fisherman’s car near Wright Road and Kirkwood Drive, said Adolph.

The fisherman went immediately to a nearby gas station and flagged down a Stafford police officer who in turn hooked the victim up with Sugar Land Police.

The pistol toting suspect was described as 16 to 17 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a thin build and short hair. He was wearing black pants, a red hoodie and blue latex gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
