By LeaAnne Klentzman

Rosenberg Police announced that they discovered and seized 25 pounds of heroin on a routine traffic stop.

According to Rosenberg Assistant Police Chief Dallis Warren, in the early morning hours of Friday, June 2, about 1:35 am, Rosenberg Police officers pulled over a vehicle in the 2800 block of U.S. Hwy 59 for a traffic offense. Warren said, “Upon further investigation, officers located a hidden compartment in the vehicle containing approximately 25 pounds of Heroin.”

The two occupants of the vehicle were identified as Christopher Clark, 44, of Houston, and Alejandra Oropeza, 36, of Katy. According to Warren, both Clark and Oropeza were arrested and charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance. The street value of the seized heroin is reportedly in excess of $2.3 million dollars.

At press time Clark and Oropeza both remain in jail, each with a $250,000 bond.
