First Colony Branch Library offers free Saturday movie matinees
Fort Bend County Libraries will feature free Saturday Movie Matinees at the First Colony Branch Library, 2121 Austin Parkway in Sugar Land, in July. A variety of family films will be shown.
The special feature on Saturday, July 13, is a 2012 film starring Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton as a childless couple who dream about the child they would like to have someday. They bury a box in the backyard filled with all their wishes for an infant. When young Timothy shows up on their doorstep one night, the couple – and the other residents of the small town of Stanleyville – learns that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.
This movie is rated PG. Showtime is 2:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library.
The final movie in the series will be shown on Saturday, July 27. Based on a book by Suzanne Collins, this science-fiction adventure film is set in a dystopian future in the ruins of what was once North America. The capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its 12 districts to send two teenage representatives to compete in a fight to the death. When her younger sister, Prim, is selected to compete, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her place. Katniss and her male counterpart, Peeta, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives. Relying upon her sharp instincts, Katniss must make impossible choices in her fight for survival.
This film is rated PG-13. Showtime is 2:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library.
The movies are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available. For more information about the featured movies, call the branch library at 281-238-2800 or the library’s Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
